Peroxide Cleaning Recipe


 

Butter Tart Squares


Crust:


1 cup margarine

2 cups flour

4 Tbsp brown sugar


Press into 9 x 13 buttered pan. Bake at 350 F for 15 mins.


Filling:


4 eggs beaten

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup oatmeal

½ tsp salt

5 Tbsp butter

1 tsp baking powder

2 tsp vanilla

2 cups unsweetened coconut (optional)

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 cup currents


Combine and press into the base. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Let cool before cutting.

Rhubarb-Oatmeal Bars



Crust:


1 cup all-purpose flour

¾ cup oatmeal - uncooked

1 cup packed brown sugar

½ cup unsalted butter - melted


Filling:


4 cups rhubarb - cut into half inch pieces

1 cup white sugar

2 tsp cornstarch

1 cup water

1 tsp vanilla extract



Mix flour, oatmeal, brown sugar and butter until crumbly. Press half into greased 9 inch pan. Add the rhubarb. 

Combine sugar, cornstarch, water and vanilla. Cook until thick and clear. Pour sauce over rhubarb. Top with other half of crumb mixture.


Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes.


Rhubarb Bars


Crust:


1 ⅓ cups flour

½ cup powdered sugar

⅔ cup butter or margarine


Filling:


1 cup sugar

¼ cup flour

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1 tsp vanilla

3 cups finely chopped fresh or frozen rhubarb


Combine flour and powdered sugar, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into the bottom of a greased 11 x 7 x 2 inch pan. Bake 350 F for 12 minutes.

For filling, combine first four ingredients. Stir in rhubarb, pour over warm crust. Bake 350 F for 35-40 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. Can be served warm or cooled.


Dinner Rolls


½ cup water, boiling

⅔ cup sour cream

1 egg

1 ½ cup white flour

1 ½ cup whole wheat flour

1 ½ tsp salt

2 Tbsp sugar

1 Tbsp instant yeast


Put boiling water in a bowl, then mix in sour cream. Then add the egg, sugar and salt.

You can then pour the mixture, along with the flour and yeast, into a bread mixer on the dough cycle, or mix with a mixer. Lightly oil and put in a bowl. Let rise for 1-2 hours. Punch down and divide into 9 rolls. Place on pan and let rise again 30-40 mins.


Bake at 375 F for 25-30 minutes.







Rhubarb Syrup

Fill dutch oven or similar large pot ⅔ to ¾ of cleaned chopped rhubarb. 1 ½ to 2 inch pieces. Add 2 to 3 cups of water, set on low heat and let it slowly come to a boil, stirring occasionally. This will take some time.

Put a sturdy, stainless steel colander on a large pot, and line the colander with cheese cloth or a jelly strainer. Fill with cooked rhubarb and drain as much as possible. Cool down in the fridge.

Add ¾ cup sugar for every cup of rhubarb juice, and 2 Tbsp pectin (no sugar pectin is preferred). Bring to a boil and pour into a hot, sterile jar and seal with a sterile lid.

McIntyre Apple Dumplings

 Need six apples, peeled and cored.


Sauce:


1 ½ cups water

1 ½ cups sugar

¼ tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

3 Tbsp butter.


Bring everything but the butter to a boil, then add the butter.


Dough:


2 cups flour

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

⅔ cups butter

½ cup milk.


Combine until a dough, then roll out and cut into six squares. Place the peeled and cored apple into the square. Fill the core with a mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and butter. Wrap with dough, and place in a 9x13 pan, spacing them 1 inch apart. Pour sauce over apples and sprinkle with sugar.


Bake 375 F for 35 minutes.


Awesome Bread


1 cup + 2 Tbsp milk


Microwave until hot. Then add:


2 Tbsp honey

1 tsp salt

¼ cup butter


Stir until butter is melted. Then add to:


2 slightly beaten eggs. 


Then add:


½ cup large oats

¼ cup buckwheat flour

2 cup whole wheat flour

1 ½ cup white flour

2 ½ tsp instant yeast


Knead or put in breadmaker on dough cycle. Put in baking pan and let rise until double in size. Then bake at 350 F for 50 minutes.


Can also be made into buns.

Pineapple Zucchini Bread

 

3 eggs

1 ¾ cup sugar

1 cup oil

2 tsp vanilla


Mix above ingredients together, then add:


3 cups flour

1 ¼ tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon


Then add and mix:


1 3/4 cup grated zucchini

1 8 oz can drained pineapple chunks

1 cup chopped walnuts


Pour into 2 greased 9 x 5 pans. Bake 350 F for 50-60 minutes.


Raisin Strietzel


4 cups warm milk

7 eggs, beaten

½ (?) butter

1 ¼ cup cup sugar

1 ½ Tbsp salt


Heat mixture to 120 degrees F


Beat in:

2 cups flour

2 ½ Tbsp quick rise yeast


Continue to add flour until fairly thick, then combine with


1 lbs raisins


In a large bowl. Knead into a nice, soft dough. Oil dough lightly and let rise 1-2 hours.


Form into loaves, flatten, then top with this icing:

1 egg,

2 Tbsp icing sugar

¼ cup whipping cream


Mix well, and put 2 Tbsp on each loaf and sprinkle with 3-4 Tbsp sugar and cinnamon mixture.


Let rise again 1 hour, then bake at 350 F for 45 mins. Do not use convection.


Makes 4 loaves.


Gingerbread Cookies


¾ cup butter

1 cup sugar

¼ cup molasses

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla


Cream above ingredients together, then add and mix:


2 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp ground ginger.


Roll into one inch balls and dip into a bowl of sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 F for 8-10 minutes.


Dishpan Cookies


1 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla


Cream these ingredients together, then add:


2 cup flour

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt


Combine them well, then add:


¾ cup rolled oats

2 cups corn flakes

¾ cup chopped nuts

1 cup shredded coconut

½ cup white chocolate chips

½ cup normal chocolate chips


Drop on greased cookie sheet with a 1 Tbsp spoon.

Cook 350 F approx. 10 minutes.


Scalloped Potatoes


2 cups cream

3 sliced potatoes

chopped rosemary

1 Tbsp butter

Salt & pepper to taste

1 cup shredded cheese


Bring cream to a boil, then add potatoes. When potatoes soften, place in a greased baking dish.

Top with shredded cheese and bake at 350 F for 30 mins.


Schwarties Potato Casserole

1 kg frozen hashbrowns

  (2.5 kg no-name brand - diced potato hashbrowns - makes double batch)


1 - 250 gr sour cream

1 can mushroom soup

1/4 cup butter

1/2 onion, diced

1 1/2 cups grated cheese

salt & pepper


In sauce pan, saute onion in melted butter. Mix into remaining ingredients in a big bowl and add 1/2 of the cheese.


Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan.

Top with remaining cheese


350 degrees - 1 hour


Cover with foil for half of the baking time then remove

BBQ Meatballs


Ground beef

1 can tomato soup

1 can mushrooms

celery

onion

barbeque sauce

Mix beef with seasonings, salt & pepper, steak spice, oats, egg, garlic powder.

Form into balls & place on greased cookie sheet.

Bake @ 350 degrees until browned.

In roaster, add meatballs and remaining ingredients (if meatballs are cooked in a frying pan, deglaze pan with water and add or in oven, thin sauce a bit with beef stock.

Bake @ 350 degrees for 1 hour

Baked Custard


2 cups milk (or can use plant based milk such as vanilla almond milk

1/3 - 1/2 cup sugar

4 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

Whisk all ingredients together and pour into a greased casserole dish or custard cups.

Place in a pan of hot water and bake at 350 degrees for approx 45 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean.

*Heat water in kettle and pour into pan in the oven. Place casserole dish in, making sure water doesn't come too high up the sides or will boil and splash into the custard. About 1/3 up the side of the casserole dish is plenty.
