Saskatoon Syrup

 For a 1 gallon bucket of Saskatoons:


Clean berries, half cover with water, bring to a boil and mash.


Put 4 paper napkins in 2 litres water (very hot) this is for 1 gallon bucket of saskatoons.

Leave napkins in water about a minute, break apart, don't squeeze, just drain.

Add napkin pieces to berries, mash. Put through cheese cloth, squeezing when cool enough

(Napkins help extract more juice)


Bring juice to a boil with sugar

2 cups sugar to 3 cups juice


Have jars hot in a 275 degree oven

boil lids.

Fill jars.

No need to return to oven.
